Since its inception in 1938 as Wilhelm Otte, Westerstede, the company has been a pioneer in the field of construction. Initially focused on traditional construction projects, such as high-rise buildings, Wilhelm Otte soon diversified into the production of prefabricated concrete elements like lintels and washing poles.

A significant turning point occurred in 1952 when the company shifted its focus to manufacturing greenhouse tables from prefabricated concrete elements. This shift was well-received by horticultural businesses for its efficiency and streamlining benefits. The company also excelled in developing other concrete products like cold frames, garden bed edging, and architectural elements.

By the 1960s, the company’s capacity couldn’t meet demand, leading to several expansions. By the early 1970s, over 500 different specialized concrete products were being manufactured by 140 employees.

Renowned for the quality of its products, the company quickly became a leading manufacturer of prefabricated concrete elements for gardening and landscaping in Europe. Their tables, cold frames, and garden center furnishings became industry standards.

In 1974, the company rebranded as Otte Beton GmbH & Co KG, marking a new era. In 1976, Otte Beton GmbH & Co. KG introduced aluminum rolling tables for horticultural businesses, a move that revolutionized the industry.

In the early 1980s, Otte Beton GmbH & Co. KG developed mobile and roll mobile table systems for horticultural businesses, significantly impacting workflow efficiency.

In 1989, reflecting its market growth and diversification, the company rebranded as Otte-Beton und Metallbau GmbH & Co. KG.

By 2005, the company split into Otte Metallbau GmbH & Co. KG and Otte Beton GmbH.
